Hedi Slimane’s first turn at Celine was controversial last fall – he veered risqué, his vision (reminiscent of his time at YSL er Saint Laurent) was seen as a challenge to that of Phoebe Philo, whose designs at the brand formerly known as Céline (with an é) are venerated.

I am not alone in loving what Hedi laid out in his latest collection. It’s all laser sharp classic – it is truly precise, yet still soft and wearable.
